AnselmoBucci<< Reynold Brown | Illustrators | Charles Livingston Bull >> Anselmo Bucci (1887-1955), came from the Marches region town of Fossombrone. Painter, engraver, writer, poet, essayist and journalist in Paris, Milan and Monza, Bucci was an interesting, versatile, eclectic figure in the 1900s cultural scene. In 1923 Novecento Italiano was founded in Milan, led by Anselmo Bucci, Mario Sironi and others with the objective of establishing a specifically Italian modernism. Bucci's most notable works show his vision of an Italy suspended between two wars. In 1945, though he longed for Paris, following the bombings on Milan, he sought refuge in peaceful Brianza for his last decade alive. llustration for The Jungle Book (1929) |
